Just on the border of the CBD and Chinatown, the Chinese Garden of Friendship feels like your miles away. Escape the busy city and unwind in a Chinese garden setting that is yet another unexpected find.
The Chinese Garden of Friendship is located in Darling Harbour and is only a two-minute walk from Chinatown and five-minutes from Town Hall.
The Garden is modelled on the typical private gardens of the Ming Dynasty, offering an insight into Chinese heritage and culture. This garden is one of the few public traditional Chinese gardens existing outside of China today.
The gardens were officially opened in 1988 as part of Sydney's bicentennial celebrations and were named the Garden of Friendship to symbolise the bond established between China and Australia.
The garden has a number of features including the Dragon Wall, the Water Pavilion of Lotus Fragrance, the Twin Pavilion and The Tea House that offers traditional Chinese tea.
Entry into the Garden is $6.00 for adults and $3.00 for children, family rates are also available.
