Sydney's trains are one of the easiest and most convenient ways to get around the city or do a bit sightseeing.
Train tickets can be purchased either at
the ticket counter or via the automatic machines. Some machines are exact change only and you’ll need to keep your ticket to exit the station.
Costs vary depending on where you want to go, but you can get a travelpass for around $35 for adults which allows for a week of unlimited transportation on all Sydney ferries, buses and trains.
The City Circle is the
easiest route to follow to help you get your bearings in Sydney and offers
some pretty spectacular views as well.
The City Circle trains depart from Central Station on platforms 17, 20 and 21 and take a basic loop around the Sydney CBD. The loop consists of 8 stops including Central, Town Hall, Wynyard, Circular Quay, St James, Museum, Martin Place and Kings Cross.
If you do have a bit more time on your hands, you can catch a train to Milson’s Point in North Sydney.
On this train trip you'll have great views of the Sydney Opera House as you travel over the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
