Take a trip on the Monorail and get a bird’s eye view of the city of Sydney.

Opened in July 1988 as a Bicentennial gift to Sydney, the Monorail became a favourite mode of transport, with 4 million people each year using it to get around the city.

The full loop takes about 15 minutes and the monorail comes every 5 minutes.

There are a lot of tickets available for the monorail. But, we recommend getting a day pass, which costs about $9.50.

This ticket allows you to hop on and off the monorail as you please the whole day and is a good ticket if your looking to see the sights of the city.

As a bonus when you purchase the day pass you also receive a handful of discounts to some of Sydney’s main attractions like the Maritime Museum and IMAX Theatre.

There are eight monorail stations scattered around the city including:

Galleries Victoria on Pitt St,
Crn of Market and Pitt Streets in the CBD,
Darling Park in Darling Harbour,
At the Pyrmont Bridge,
The Convention Centre in Darling Harbour,
Near Paddy’s Market,
On Dixon St in Chinatown and
In World Square on George St.
